Tarah Wright
(She/Her/Hers)
Tarah is a counselling intern whose work is grounded in respect for clients’ experiences and the belief that change happens within safe and respectful therapeutic spaces. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She also holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Environmental Studies (University of Waterloo and Dalhousie University) and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Alberta.
Tarah works with both youth and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. She has a particular interest and experience in supporting individuals experiencing ecological and climate anxiety, as well as anxiety related to global events. Tarah also brings insights from her work in the performing arts sector into her therapy practice, particularly around collaboration and vulnerability. Her work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based approaches, which she integrates into therapy to support clients in meaningful and practical ways.
Outside of work, Tarah enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her super-cute dog (who is working on getting certified as a therapy assist dog). She also makes it a practice to spend time in nature as much as possible, ideally sailing on the ocean.
